About PlotFind

PlotFind is Botswana's plot-number lookup service — the fastest way to find a plot in Gaborone or Francistown, see exactly where it is on a map, get its GPS coordinates, and share the location with anyone. Type a plot number, a suburb, a place, or a business name and PlotFind shows you the result on the map in seconds.

The original Botswana plot finder

PlotFind launched in 2016, and it has been free to the public the entire time. We originally created it hoping to unlock government backing to build a comprehensive online plot service covering the whole of Botswana. That backing never materialised, so we did not invest further development into the platform over the following decade. We did not want to leave the public without a solution, though, so we kept it free to use, with no monetisation of any kind. Now, after a decade, we have given it an upgrade — we obtained additional data, rebuilt the website, and added an API platform for developers. Our focus is still users first: that is why PlotFind remains free to use, and why the developer platform also includes a generous free tier.

A real infrastructure gap

Global mapping services — Google Maps, Garmin, TomTom — still do not carry Botswana plot numbers. Yet plot numbers are how people in Botswana actually describe where something is: deliveries, emergency services, property transactions, utilities and municipal work all depend on them. PlotFind exists to fill that gap with a simple, reliable map anyone can use.

Government-verified data

PlotFind's data is sourced directly from official Botswana government cadastral records — the authoritative GeoPackage files. It is not crowd-sourced, not manually approximated, and not scraped. That means real polygon boundaries and coordinates you can rely on for location-critical work.
